Please note: No responsibility or liability will be accepted by Art of extensions for the damage to bonds and/or hair extensions if this maintenance guide is not followed, or if you use hair care products not recommended.
Before your hair extensions application
Do not apply any colour, Moroccan oils or Keratin treatments at least 2 days prior to your hair extensions application. After your hair extensions application Do not wash your hair for 48-72 hours. Do not apply coconut, macadamia, Argan, Moroccan oils or Keratin treatments on, or near your scalp wearing hair extensions. These products can break down the bonds. Refit and move-up A refit and move-up is recommended every 6 weeks of the bonds. Check-up Highly recommended 1-2 months after your application. Hair loss A full head of extensions may cover 2/3 of the head, so you can expect to see a small quantity of naturally released hairs trapped in the bonds fall out. Balmain and Showpony hair care products We recommend you use Balmain and Showpony hair care products specifically designed to improve the longevity of your hair extensions. Other products may damage bonds. Do not use products containing sulphur, such as anti-dandruff shampoos. |
Shampooing
Brush hair thoroughly, then soak in warm water. Wash from the crown-down – do not shampoo with your head upside down. Distribute the shampoo at the roots, then gently massage in small circles over the scalp, cleansing both the natural hair and bonds. Rinse and repeat if needed. Conditioning Apply from to the mid-lengths through to the ends – do not apply directly to your scalp or bonds. Leave conditioning treatments on for 3-10 minutes. Rinse hair off thoroughly with warm water. Drying Squeeze out water, wrap a towel around the head and gently pat the towel to remove moisture. Avoid rubbing scalp and ends. Dry hair naturally or blow-dry. You may use straighteners or curling tongs, but keep an adequate distance from the bonds, as heat can cause damage or melting. Brushing Use a large soft brittle brush, as this ensures the hair does not catch on your extensions or natural hair. Gently brush starting at the ends, moving to mid-length and then the roots. Sleeping Do not go to bed with damp hair. Gently tie dry hair back in a loose braid or twist to help prevent tangles or knots when asleep. Swimming Avoid putting your head under, as sea water and chlorine pools can cause bond and hair damage. |
